Can You Leave Furniture Outside in Dubai?

It happens every week in Dubai: a sofa or mattress appears next to the bins or in a car park after someone moves out. It might seem harmless, but it causes real problems.

Is it allowed?

No. Leaving furniture or bulky waste in public areas, car parks or next to building bins is not allowed. Dubai Municipality treats it as illegal dumping, and it can lead to fines. Many buildings also charge tenants for removing items left in common areas. Rules and penalties can change, so check with Dubai Municipality and your building management for current details.

Why it is a problem

• It blocks fire exits, parking spaces and walkways.
• Furniture left outside gets rained on, damaged and becomes unusable.
• It attracts pests and becomes an eyesore for neighbours.

The better options

1. Donate it for free

If the furniture is usable, donate it. We collect for free from inside your home, usually the same day, and it goes to someone who needs it.

2. Sell it

Newer, branded pieces may be worth selling if you have time.

3. Bulky waste or junk removal

Broken furniture and stained mattresses should go through Dubai Municipality’s bulky waste service or a junk removal company.
